  • Di formazione classica, Caterina Carpinato studia (sin dagli anni del Liceo) l’evoluzione linguistica e culturale del greco (e dei greci).
    Si occupa di traduzione letteraria: ha analizzato l’Iliade e la Batrachomyomachia nelle prime trasposizioni dal “greco in greco” pubblicate a stampa nel Cinquecento a Venezia; e la traduzione neogreca dei Promessi sposi (1845-46).
    Ha pubblicato numerosi autori greci moderni in italiano, avviando alla traduzione letteraria anche i suoi studenti.
    Studia la produzione letteraria greca alle origini del volgare; si è occupata di lessicografia e questione della lingua.
    Ha promosso, sin dal 2001, corsi di lingua neogreca nei licei.
    Il progetto: "Il greco nella scuola del Veneto fra presente e futuro" ha avuto il LABEL EUROPEO delle lingue nel 2011.
    Nel triennio 2015-2018 è stata impegnata nelle attività didattiche e scientifiche finanziate nell’ambito del programma ERASMUS+ in un progetto di ricerca scientifica applicato alla didattica delle lingue denominato: Archaeoschool for the future, che ha conseguito il LABEL EUROPEO delle Lingue nel 2018. È professoressa ordinaria di lingua e letteratura neogreca all'Università Ca’ Foscari Venezia.
    Da fine 2020 a maggio 2024 è stata prorettrice alla Terza Missione.
    E' Presidente dell'Associazione Nazionale di Studi Neogreci.

    La terza sezione del corso Lingue e culture dei Balcani e del Mediterrano, MOOC su piattaforma eduopen.org, è curata da C. Carpinato in collaborazione con E. Liosatou.
