Il corso "Green roofs in Higher Education: hubs for research, participation, sustainability and O2 generation" nasce dal progetto GREENO2 (https://greeno2.eu/), finanziato dall'Unione Europea attraverso il programma ERASMUS+, e si propone di approfondire il potenziale dei tetti verdi come centri di ricerca, sostenibilità e resilienza climatica.
Progettato per studenti, professionisti e accademici, il programma prevede 20 ore di formazione distribuite in 5 settimane. I partecipanti esploreranno i principi ecologici e le applicazioni pratiche delle tecnologie per tetti verdi, scoprendo i loro benefici ambientali e il ruolo nel contrasto al cambiamento climatico, in connessione con gli Obiettivi di Sviluppo Sostenibile (SDGs).
Il corso è il risultato di una collaborazione internazionale tra università, enti di ricerca e aziende di Grecia, Spagna, Romania, Polonia, Italia e Ucraina. Questa risorsa educativa aperta offre strumenti per costruire un futuro più verde e sostenibile.

This course aims to provide learners with a comprehensive understanding of green roofs as innovative solutions for sustainability, urban resilience, and environmental well-being. Throughout the modules, participants will explore the ecological, technical, and socio-economic dimensions of green roofing systems, gaining insights into vegetation selection, substrate composition, water management, energy performance, and biodiversity enhancement. A key objective is to introduce green roofs as learning and experimentation hubs, highlighting their role in education, research, climate adaptation, and citizen engagement. The course also emphasizes the importance of Nature-Based Solutions (NbS) within urban environments and encourages learners to critically assess case studies, compare design approaches, and envision new applications in their own local contexts. By the end of the MOOC, learners will be able to understand the main types of green roofs, evaluate their benefits and challenges, identify the steps for planning and maintenance, and reflect on how these systems contribute to broader sustainability goals such as the SDGs and the green transition in European cities.Pre-requisiti
