Safety-critical applications in the Modena Automotive Smart Area (MASA)


The course outlines the challenges and activities taken by the UNIMORE research group within the context of the CN MOST Spoke 6 project. It focuses on the technologies and applications that enable connected and autonomous driving in both urban and suburban environments.

At the end of the course, the student will be able:

  • to understand connected and autonomous driving scenarios in the framework of the CN MOST Spoke 6 project;
  • to learn more about how these scenarios are implemented in the context of MASA (Modena Automotive Smart Area); 
  • to know the key monitoring technologies enabling connected and autonomous driving;
  • to understand technologies and tools to foster interaction with drivers in the context of connected and autonomous driving.

No specific background is required for this course.

This course does not require any textbooks. To go deeper into the project's topics, consider joining the Zenodo Community ("Spoke6_MOST_CNMS"), where all project-related publications are published in Open Access.

The course is structured in video lectures, reporting theoretical background and practical use cases addressed in the project. Each lecture is followed by a short quiz to recap the contents.

Students have to pass the questionnaires in the course to complete the course and obtain an attendance certificate.
