  • Overview
This pathway consists of two moocs (INFOPATENTE and BIBLIOPATENTE) during which we will take you on a journey through the world of digital information to tackle the issue of online research through the perspective of information literacy. In our hyperconnected world what does it mean to recognize, respond to, critically evaluate and be aware of the information overload we are exposed to when surfing the net? What tools can we use and how can we choose the ones suited to our needs? How can we avoid the constant risk of being distracted and potentially exposed to fake information? Is Google the public enemy of conscious research or rather should we simply get to know its potentials better? And, again, what is the difference between the research for information, or news, and documentary research? How can a student face library life in the digital age? The journey through INFODOCPASS will attempt to answer all these questions and also offer causes for reflection to face the topic of online research from a new viewpoint, different from the idea that “if it’s too inconvenient I’m not going after it” (Connaway et al. 2011), abandoning the existing preconceptions we often have regarding online research as multitasking digital citizens, accustomed in the new millennium to information pollution.
